Revshare charges you for being good at your job

A percentage of GGR is a bill that grows every time you improve. A price per spin is a bill you can forecast. Here is the arithmetic that decides which one you want.

Every game aggregator sells you the same thing: someone else’s games, delivered over someone else’s API, settled through a wallet you already own. What differs is how they charge for it.

The legacy answer is revenue share. You hand over a percentage of your gross gaming revenue, forever, and the percentage does not care what it cost us to serve you. The modern answer is a price per spin. You pay for the units you consumed, the way you pay for bandwidth, storage, or any other input.

The difference is not ideology. It is arithmetic, and it runs the wrong way for you under revshare.

What a percentage actually indexes

Under revshare, your bill is tied to your gross gaming revenue. GGR moves when your marketing works, when your retention improves, when you raise bet limits, when a cohort of high rollers finds you.

None of those events cost your aggregator anything. Serving a spin from a $0.20 player and a spin from a $200 player is the same API call, the same callback, the same row in the same table. Under revshare the second one bills a thousand times more.

So the percentage is not a price for a service. It is a claim on your upside. You do the acquisition, you carry the bonus cost, you take the volatility, and a fixed slice leaves before you count anything.

The number that decides it

You do not have to take the argument on faith. There is one comparison, and both sides of it are numbers you already have.

Revshare costs you, per spin:

GGR per spin  x  your revshare rate

Per-spin billing costs you, per spin, the rate on your tier. Ours are public and you can read them without an account:

At the time of writing that returns $0.0022 per spin at the entry tier, falling to $0.0015 above 100 million spins a month.

Set the two sides equal and the break-even falls out:

revshare rate at which the two cost the same
  =  price per spin  /  GGR per spin

Worked through with example numbers, so you can see the shape: if your average bet is $1 and your blended house edge is 4%, you keep $0.04 of GGR per spin. On the Scale tier at $0.0017 per spin, the break-even revshare rate is

0.0017 / 0.04  =  4.25%

Above 4.25%, per-spin is cheaper. Below it, revshare is. Run it with your own average bet and your own edge before you believe anyone, including us.

Two things fall out of that formula that are worth sitting with.

Your bet size is the whole argument. GGR per spin scales with the average bet. Double the bet size and you double the GGR per spin, which halves the break-even rate. Operators with high-stakes traffic are the ones revshare punishes hardest, and they are usually the ones paying it.

Improving your product raises your revshare bill and not your per-spin bill. Better retention, a better bonus engine, a smarter lobby: all of it lifts GGR per spin, all of it lifts what revshare takes, and none of it changes what a spin costs to serve.

What you give up

Honesty about the trade, because it is a real one.

Per-spin billing moves risk onto you. Under revshare, a month where players run hot and GGR collapses is a month where your aggregator bill collapses with it. Under per-spin, you paid for the spins and the bill stands. If your margin is thin enough that a bad month is existential, that shared downside has real value, and you should price it.

What you get back is a cost you can forecast, a bill that does not read your P&L, and a number you can put in a model before you spend the marketing budget rather than after.
